Affiliate marketing is when you advertise a companies product or service in return for a commission on each sale you generate.

This may seem confusing at first so I will try and break this down into a few simple steps and then go into things in a little more detail.

1. You sign up to an affiliate program.

2. You will be then given unique links for the product you want to promote.

3. You place these links on your site

4. Visitors to your site click these links and end up buying the products you recommend

5. You then receive a commission.

A popular affiliate network is called clickbank and they deal soley with E-products such as eBooks and software.

It only takes a moment to sign up with them and then you can promote any of the tens of thousands of products that you want.

There are products on almost any subject so you can always promote something that you have an Interest in.

All you need to do is search for a product in a market that you're interested in. For example if you know a lot about Golf, simply search for Golf in the clickbank market place and then they will show you all the products related to Golf.

From there you pick up your affiliate link and you're ready to go.

Clickbank are just one of the many places where you can promote products, usually when you're on a website that has a primary aim of selling something it will come with an affiliate program.

You will normally find more information about each companies affiliate program by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and looking for a link that says either "webmaster's" or "affiliate program"

To summarise, affiliate marketing is as simple as finding a product that you want to promote, getting your own unique links and then placing these links on your site.
